\TCFN is a nonprofit organization that uses Internet technologies to bring people together in communities of shared interest or need. We've been linking the people of Minneapolis, St Paul and neighboring communities since 1995.

Becoming a Member

This document is intended to answer some frequently asked questions before you proceed to create an account. We recommend that you read it. However, if you're impatient to get going, you can skip directly to the online registration form.

Why Should I Register?
You must register in order to participate in the discussion forums in our Conference Center, and to send and receive e-mail.
Once you become a full member of the Free-Net, you'll be able to use some additional services as well.

Can I Get Internet Access Through the Free-Net?
At this time the Freenet is in the process of providing full internet access, but at this time the Freenet only provides a text interface.

Do I Qualify for Membership?
In order to become a member of the Free-Net, you must:

* Be at least 18 years of age. If you are under 18, you can get an account if your parent or legal guardian co-signs your application.

* Abide by our Acceptable Use Policy. Please read it carefully. 


Is it Free?
We want everyone to be able to participate on the Free-Net, so there is no charge for membership. But the Free-Net depends on support from members in order to survive.
Suggested annual donations:

* $52 - Individuals (that's $1 a week!)
* $26 - Students & seniors (50 cents a week!) 

Any amount you can afford will be appreciated. All contributions are tax deductible.
Please ask your employer if they will provide matching funds for your contribution.

How Much Help is Available?
The Free-Net is an volunteer organization. We have an online Help Center and volunteers answer questions posted online or left on our voicemail, but our ability to provide technical support is limited.

How do I Register?
If you have an exsisting email address, you can complete registration online by clicking here.
Please note, if you do not have an exsisting email address, you must list a valid home phone number so one of our user administrators can contact you to verify your information. After you complete the online registration, you will recieve an email with your username and password.
