The Blue Moon Writer's Group

Who

The Blue Moon Writer's Group currently has three members.

Pictures by photographer Terry Faust appear in a number of neighborhood papers, and are on display in area coffeehouses, including the Blue Moon itself. Terry's annual 1998 Coffeehouse Calendar is also available.

I'm computer programmer Bob Alberti, whose work can be seen if you type a gopher:// URL.

Sometime member Emily K. drops in from Mankato once in a while, too!

What

Terry has written contemporary fiction, including short stories and a splendid young-adult novel. He is currently writing an engaging mystery. Be sure to ask him about his "Bob" stories (no relation).

Bob is wrapping up a role-playing game book, after which he plans to write science-fiction and mystery stories. He has written several short stories and is plotting out a mystery, but has published nothing.

Emily writes contemporary literary fiction, as well as quasifictional accounts of her luxurious vactions to exotic locales. She's great, but in the depths of winter it's easy to feel jealous!

Where and When

We meet at the Blue Moon Coffee Café, located at the intersection of East Lake Street and 39th Ave. South in Minneapolis, at 7:00 p.m. every other Sunday. Our usual format is to bring back works which we obtained at the last meeting and review our commentaries to the author. Afterward we distribute any new works, to examine across the next two weeks. We encourage each other to bring something, anything, at least once a month.

If this business is concluded rather quickly, we often conduct a brief writing excercise (20-30 minutes), leaving each of us with the satisfied feeling of having at least written SOMETHING that week.

Why

Our motto is "For writers who wish to write, rather than wish to have written." If you wish to write, and seek encouragement and friendly critique prior to publication, please feel free to join us!

How

Write to me, Bob Alberti or to Terry Faust with any questions, or just join us. Our next scheduled meeting is at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 28th, proceeding every two weeks after that (if I fail to get back and update this page).
